Surgical Academic Workshop of China-Japan Union Hospital of Jilin University Officially Opened
On October 18, the opening ceremony of the Surgical Academic Workshop of China-Japan Union Hospital of Jilin University was held in the first conference room of Building 10 of the hospital, presided over by Du Jianshi, Vice President of China-Japan Union Hospital of Jilin University.
The opening ceremony was held via video, attended by Professor Gerald Brandacher, Scientific Director of the Composite Tissue Allotransplantation (Reconstructive Transplant) Program of the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in the United States; Professor Guo Zhengxiao, Associate Dean for the Faculty of Science of the University of Hong Kong; Professor Mei Lin, Chair of the Department of Neurosciences, School of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University in the United States; Zhang Guangcui, Director of the Office of Global Engagement of Jilin University; Wu Wenzheng, Deputy Dean of the School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering of Jilin University; Cui Shusen, Party Secretary, Du Jianshi, Vice President, Liu Yin, Staff Member of the Office of Global Engagement, Sun Hongbin, Deputy Director of Hand Surgery, and about 100 backbone scholars and doctoral and master students of China-Japan Union Hospital.
The Surgical Academic Workshop of China-Japan Union Hospital of Jilin University is the second online international cooperation platform since Oxford University's online program titled Medical and Life Science. Tailored for talents in the field of surgical systems medicine, the three-week workshop will be held in the forms of lectures and seminars.
In his speech, Professor Grande Brandcher recognized the long-standing friendship and cooperation between China-Japan Union Hospital of Jilin University and Johns Hopkins Hospital in the United States over the years, as many excellent doctors and students of Johns Hopkins Hospital have come to Jilin University for study. He was grateful to Jilin University for providing more opportunities for academic exchanges between the two sides during the pandemic and hoped to see more in-depth exchanges and wider discussions between the two sides.
Secretary Cui Shusen said in his speech that China-Japan Union Hospital has always attached great importance to the opening-up of research activities in the post-pandemic era. Proactive and innovative efforts have been made by the hospital to establish ties with well-known foreign universities and research institutes through various forms and channels, in order to pave the way for inherent internationalization in the new era. Meanwhile, he hoped to take this academic workshop as an opportunity to further pragmatic cooperation with experts in the future, build substantive partnerships, and explore new modes of higher education cooperation with characteristics of the new era under the new normal, in order to make greater contributions to the practical and effective cooperation between the two sides.
Director Zhang Guangcui said that it is the second time for China-Japan Union Hospital of Jilin University to receive funds from the Global Competency Improvement Project for Jilin University Students, and also another effective effort for high-level cooperation and in-depth exchanges in medical research and international frontier fields. Adhering to the concept of openness and sharing, Jilin University will continue to support and encourage its colleges and departments to carry out multilateral international exchanges and cooperation. Experts and professors are welcome to share knowledge in frontier academic fields with colleagues of Jilin University and establish long-term cooperation with China-Japan Union Hospital of Jilin University to jointly cope with human health problems and emerging medical challenges.
